Whenever I thought about him, every molecule of my being would ache with helpless longing, as sharp as broken glass on defenseless flesh. I wanted to wipe him from my memory--no I wanted to savor them--grasp them to me tightly, hiding behind closed doors while swallowing my tears along with endless bottles of wine. Calen Bryn. His eyes are the deep greenish blue hue of glittering aquamarines under the Aegean Sea, knowing and beautiful. Sensually tilted down just a bit at the corners, they could beg, beguile or gleam with laughter in a way that few would be able to resist. I often thought that those eyes were more expressive in simply one glance than most people could be if they were to write an entire novel. Perhaps it wasn't so much the beauty but the complicated mix of sadness in those eyes that I was drawn to. As pragmatic and sunny as I have been my entire life, I have come to understand that there is a tandem pull of dark night within me, a fateful fascination with things that could only hurt me in the end. *********************************************************************************************** When you long for something that you can't have, it can lead you down dangerous paths. When Emma meets Calen Bryn, she instinctively knows that he's bad news. She is married--the only sane thing to do was run the other way. He was far too beautiful of a creature for her peace of mind. But you can't run from yourself. And Calen Bryn had no intention of letting her go so easily.

The place is London. Mistress Rosalind Hayes is a courtesan, raised in an orphan asylum and later tutored by one of the most respected courtesans of the time. Now, Rose caters to the whims of lusty nobles and businessmen, and she is determined to maintain her sovereignty. When Rose meets the Thompson siblings; Jules, a navy captain, and Alice, his spirited younger sister, the trio form an easy kinship. Rose learns they have recently lost their mother to smallpox, and she is persuaded by the siblings to pose as Jules's love interest in an attempt to bring their grief-stricken father out of a terrible depression. Melissa Crawford thinks she's just a regular teenage girl. She goes to school. She has friends, boy problems, homework...you know, the typical teenage angst. But she couldn't be more wrong, for Melissa Crawford is not a mortal. Her adoptive mortal mother refused to give her up and hired a witch to erase the enchanting Faery child's memory, not realizing that things aren't that simple. You see, when she was a little girl, Melissa promised herself forever to her Leannan Sidhe (mate), a Fae Prince, and a promise to Fae is sacred. When the Fae Prince comes back to claim what's his, nothing will get in his way. "Mortals are so arrogant. So utterly narcissistic to think that they are the only intelligence in this world, to believe their realm is the only realm, their way is the only way. "Many of you believe us fairies only exist in little kids' fairy tales. We are so much more than that. We exist, living in the Realm just a blink away from yours. A few wrong turns in the park or the forest and you're there. We sometimes walk among you, and you're not even aware of it. Believe me, we exist. Across the globe, your kind calls us and our realm by different names...but as William Shakespeare once said- a rose by any other name..."
