Edward is sent to war. He lives through it, but is plagued by the memories. Sometimes he wonders if he should have just died. Sometimes he wonders if he should just off himself.

Before Trisha died, Edward had another interest besides alchemy. Guitar. With a strum of his fingers, he could bring forth a beautiful sound from the secondhand instrument he held. After she died, however, the guitar was never taken from its case and was eventually burnt along with the house. Now, years later, Alphonse has bought him one. The promised day is in the past, Alphonse has his body back, their wrong have been righted. But will Edward be able to play those familiar and beautiful notes and chords once again? At twelve, nearly thirteen, Edward Elric was sent to war. They said he had to fight... But they didn't say he had to live.

(DISCLAIMER: This fanfic has elements that strongly relate to a similar story called 'Morphed', by WrathandRain. Check it out, as it is amazing and they used the general beginning far more effectively than me.) Edward has been missing for just over a month, with no leads to his whereabouts in all of that time. People are starting to lose hope in finding him. All besides Roy Mustang, Edwards commanding officer, Maes Hughes, a parental figure to Edward, and Alphonse Elric, Edwards younger brother, believe that the famed alchemist is dead. When they do find the answers they seek, it is not as it seems to be. Nothing is as it should be, and Fullmetal seems to be no more, a uncontrollable and unpredictable being left behind.

Twenty-eight. That's how old Edward Elric was when the bullet that finally killed him was fired from the barrel of a rifle. However, when he appears in front of Truth, despite having given his portal up long ago, Edward is faced with a dilemma. Pass on...or start over?

"Alphonse....." "No...." There's multiple thoughts a person feels when they lose someone. But what exactly do they think when it's someone they never imagined losing?

It's been about a year since Ed and Al got stuck in the world beyond the gate. They've begun to meet the counterparts to the people they once knew in Amestris. And that even includes Colonel Roy Mustang. For some reason, Ed doesn't stop dreaming about him. He ends up realizing his feelings. But it's too late to tell Roy now. Things change however when Ed meets Roy's counterpart. Memories surface, and so do feelings. Luckily, Ed has Al to help him get through it all.

After losing their mother, Alphonse and Edward Elric attempt to bring her back using the forbidden science of human alchemy. However, alchemy operates on the theory of equivalent trade, and breaking the human alchemy taboo carries a heavy price. Ed loses his leg, and Al loses his body. Ed is able to seal Al’s soul inside of a huge suit of armor, at the cost of his arm. Years later, Ed (now with two mechanical limbs) and Al (still trapped in the armor) leave their childhood home, each brother concerned with the other’s happiness. Ed, who has a natural talent and skill for alchemy, becomes nationally certified and is soon known everywhere as the “Fullmetal Alchemist.” Their true objective is to search for any information on the fabled Philosopher’s Stone, hoping it will allow them to regain their old bodies. All of their hopes rest with this mythical stone, which may not even exist at all. However, the brothers soon learn that they are not the only ones after the powerful stone. All rights belong to FUNimation and Hiromu Arakawa.

It's been nearly a year since Edward's rampage and then death, and the wounds of the past are slowly beginning to heal. Roy Mustang and what remains of his team have been joined by a bright eyed and easy going First Lieutenant as well as Alphonse to make up for the loss of Havoc and Fuery. Breda had recovered almost completely, and got around with only a limp and a series of nasty scars to show from his encounter. The office is about to be plunged into chaos once more to find a missing member of their staff. Will they be able to find the fearsome Hawk's Eye before it's too late? Or will the same fate that fell upon Edward fall upon her as well?
