In the dystopian world of Adepto a Vita, society is divided into three classes based on their 'gift'.
The Elites: the most powerful-rich, strong, and have powerful gifts.
The Middlings: middle class, still pretty well off, have general gifts-not too shabby.
And then you have the Unmentionables. Poor, dirty people of the streets-weak and ridiculed. If you're an Unmentionable, you are guaranteed a short and difficult life.
Elixir is an Unmentionable. She is poorest of the poor-even other Unmentionables look down upon her. But by complete accident, Elixir discovers that she indeed has powers. Extreme ones. Immediately thrust into a whirlwind of competition, Elixir must fight to find her place in society, and her identity itself.
