If she cut the string though, she could be free forever with nothing to hold her back. Back from what exactly? The girl didn't know what was out there yet still a small voice in her head screamed for her to find out - even the danger of it all seemed to entice her further. *⚠️Possible trigger warning: scissors ⚠️*

This is a short story that I wrote for a 500 words short story competition and it is about a boy named Conor. ¥ ¥ ¥ Conor doesn't want to face the problems in his life and when he is dreaming he doesn't have to. Or so he thinks... When his problems form as horrible creatures in his head he decides to confront them instead of running away because he is sick of being weak and so easily manipulated.

(You're an idiot do you know that?) I am not! (You are, or why would you be dangling from a windowsill?) Oh, you've kinda got me there. (See, now listen to me and I'll tell you how to easily get out of this situation.) Okay, tell me. (Climb back through the window.) What! No! (Why?) Because I climbed out of the window for a reason and that reason is that I want to get away! (Fine then......jump.) Are you actually insane!? (No I am literally a voice in your head so you are basically talking to yourself which therefore makes you 'insane'.) Oh... --------------- This story is about two different places one named Arcadia and the other Nolente. In the city of Arcadia everyone has a special 'talent' or 'ability' such as talking to animals or reading minds. They also have dark purple eyes to identify them as citizens of Arcadia. However, this power can be taken from them by wiping their minds, but if they relearn the power that's a whole new thing. The people who can read minds are sent to patrol Nolente to make sure that law is in order and nobody is trying to start and 'uprising' against the Leaders.. Who may not be what they seem... Meanwhile in the city of Nolente people who have no powers or 'talents' are left to roam because they are 'unwanted' in the Leaders 'perfect' world. Also in the city of Nolente are people from Arcadia who have had their memories of their powers wiped away... The people who have their memory's wiped have dark grey eyes instead of dark purple ones to identify them as a citizen of Arcadia. They are also given to a family in Nolente so they do not remember having a previous life in Arcadia. But only two people have ever had their memories wiped... However when Tessa notices her eyes are grey unlike her 'parents' eyes and people in her schools's eyes, she becomes suspicious and runs away with only her trusty rucksack by her side. Until she discovers she is not from Nolente but Arcadia.
