Su amor con Finnick es un secreto, se conocieron en los juegos de Nerea y el hizo hasta lo imposible por sacarla de ahí con vida, vendió su alma al diablo accediendo a las peticiones del presidente Snow con la única condición de que ella no tuviera que hacerlo despues. Nerea es conocida en el Capitolio como la Sirena pues posee una belleza inigualable que cautivo a todos desde el primer momento pero también se le llama así porque es tan letal como los seré mitológicos, hermosa, cautivadora, pero sobre todo peligrosa, y mas peligrosa cuando tiene en sus manos cuchillos y un tridente.
