Dinah always thought that she's a fearless person; spontaneously running away from home at a young age, driving miles away with no clear destination until she finds herself taking a right turn somewhere along the way and right into the roads of this quaint, simple town she now calls home. Three years later, and the same roads lead someone else into the same town. Suddenly Dinah doesn't think she's so fearless anymore, not when the new girl with her green eyes is making her run around scared and confused about feelings that she doesn't understand.

Dinah's sure that some people would look at her life and think she has it all. Star basketball player on her team, decent grades, popularity, and a great best friend. But she thinks life might be just a little easier if she didn't spend her time fantasizing about said best friend doing unspeakable things to her while she's in class because it's really starting to throw off her game. No one ever said the game of love was easy. Lauren's positive that she's pretty invisible to mostly everyone except her best friend. She's been cool with that, remaining in her little geeky art bubble, taking time to work on her talent. She's unique and that's what's best about a masterpiece right? That it stands out from the mundane? She just wishes she could stand out to Camila Cabello, the popular head cheerleader. Romance is one form of art she doesn't have much experience with....

Twenty years after a pandemic swept the world, infected humans roam the earth, while survivors kill each other for resources. Lauren, having lived in a militarized safe zone for most of her life, is given the task to safely transport what could be humanity's last hope for a cure.

She thought she lost the girl she couldn't find But that same girl was there the whole time...

"You've got me," Lauren whispered, the words sounding almost like a question. Dinah nodded. "For as long as you want me, for as long as I deserve you. And...even after that." (A series of loosely connected scenes from Lauren's pregnancy, and her married life with Dinah.)

They meet one evening through a mutual friend. There is an instant connection for one of them, but the other one can't seem to put her finger on what it is about this girl that annoys her. Is it love? Is it hate? Will she get the girl? Will she be able to resist?
