This story basically came about because I hadn't seen anyone else write about the connection that the time that the strike ended and the day Winnie was supposed to meet Jesse by the spring were coinciding. We all know the story of newsies. But what would have happened if Davey had arrived just a few days later? What if Davey was a scab?

Katherine and Jack have spent all day on Jack's paper selling route in New York. The year is 1899. The year of the newsboys' strike. Change is brewing. Katherine's not sure if she's ready for what this change might bring. This story didn't really fit the bill but I liked chapter three enough to share it with everyone!
