On a routine trip to Mercury, the Drifter 3 crew is under immense pressure to solve a problem in their ship before it's too late. As hard as they try, they are unable to fix the problem, the ship exploding from a mechanical error. Now stranded on the planet, they have to find a way to contact home, in order to be saved. Will the Drifter 3 crew make it out alive, or will they die slowly and painfully?

In the late 22nd century, humanity is beginning to colonize space. Before colony ships arrive, habitation vessels are appointed terraforming missions. The Aurora was once such a vessel. During it's descent, a mysterious energy pulse struck the Aurora, resulting in catastrophic hull failure. A single life pod jettisoned prior to impact. Antonin Holtz was on that life pod. With his wits, charismatic attitude, and look on his face like he's plotting something, everyone certainly loves him. Chica is also popular. She has all the guys crushing on her--including Freddy. She is friends with almost all of the 8th Graders, but she can't seem to hold in a secret that could tear everything she's ever been known for down. Bonnie is a dreamer. She has a small group of friends that stay loyal to her, but she spends most of her time writing in a diary she carries around the school. People who look at her find her "mysterious" and even "weird". Even through this, she will discover a secret that will change her forever. Foxy is shy. He spends most of his time running around the school and finding a corner to cry in. Since he is teased a lot for having all "F's", he barely participates in school activities, which drops his grade even more. One thing he doesn't know is that there is one person who envies him, but is just as afraid to talk. After a chain of events, the group becomes friends. They all empower each other and learn the importance of friendship. But after they find a mysterious hidden passageway in the school, their friendship is tested to the breaking point.
