"...one by one the lights flickered off. The air-conditioner stopped functioning and the room was flooded with the humid warmth of mid-spring. From the bedroom, I heard the TV shut off as sounds of the football match abruptly cut off. A loud rumble that sounded like huge machinery cranking echoed through the corridors. The last bulb flickered off, and we were left enveloped in total darkness. Ruby's soft whimpers drifted into the bathroom. A last drop of water that had been hanging on the opening of the tap fell loose, hitting the sink with an unusually deafening 'plop'. A sick feeling began to rise in my stomach. Something has changed, something has happened. My life would no longer be mundane." A normal peaceful evening escalates into a nightmare when the school dormitory is placed on lockdown and Emaline is trapped inside. Armed with nothing but a baseball bat, Emaline will have to fight her way through new terrors that have arisen, friends that have turned into flesh hungry monsters and hostile troops. And every bite is fatal. A new world order has arrived, and you'd better learn the rules fast. Rated PG-13...I think? Just be prepared for some gory descriptions and strong language. Other than that, mostly just good zombie scares. ;)

It's been five years since the plague struck. Leah knows there are other survivors, but she's avoiding them. She is doing just fine on her own. Surviving after everyone she knew died has made her physically strong and honed her intelligence, but she is emotionally devastated. There is nothing to fear if you don't make yourself emotionally vulnerable. James has spent the last five years helping to build up a colony of survivors. He believes in the small town they have populated and its mission to save humanity from extinction. He and his small team of men find scattered people and bring them in. Over the last two centuries, women have fought for and won more and more rights, gaining equality with men. Society, law, and technology bolsters and enforces these rights, but now they are gone. Women's equality with men is over. There are just too few of them. They aren't lesser but greater, more important, more valuable than men. Men are expendable. Men can stay outside alone if they like, but all women must be brought inside the safety of the Colony and properly taken care of. James has been searching the area Leah lives in. Her time of solitude is up. Leah sparks something in James he's never felt before. He's not letting this one get away, certainly not twice. Zombies plague the apocalyptic landscape, insatiable and wreaking havoc on the remaining uninfected. Settlements desperately hold out, fighting for the last remnants of civilization while striving for a return to normalcy. At twenty years old, I should be worrying about final exams and where I’m going for spring break. Instead, I’m sharpening blades and loading guns. My family chooses to make its home away from the settlements, deep in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado. We raid stores across the state, gathering supplies which we in turn trade to the settlements. It’s a simple, but dangerous, existence and biters haunt us every step of the way. Lucky for us, I have a secret . . . I’m a necromancer. My name is Anya Donovan and this is my survival story.
