the xy gang has now finished travelling all of the kalos region, and ash is now ready to challenge league. serena, ashs childhood friend has mixed feelings about this and she tries to persuade ash from challenging the league because she is afraid that her crush might just return back to the kanto region after battling the league.

When the xy group splits up, Serena is broken. She looses in the final round and fails to become Kalos Queen. Serena goes down some dark paths and develops dangerous habits, and her mom worries for her. Grace decides to send Serena to a Pokemon University in hopes Serena can turn her life around.
