Met haar gescheiden ouders die elkaar niet kunnen luchten of zien, is het niet altijd even makkelijk thuis. Haar schoolcijfers zijn beroerd, haar moeder zit in een flinke midlifecrisis en zelfs hoogzomer blijft het maar regenen in Nederland. Kortom: haar leven is alles behalve sprookjesachtig. Ze hoeft dan ook niet lang na te denken wanneer haar vader, een warrige wetenschapper, met een interessant voorstel komt. Voor zijn wetenschappelijke onderzoek naar liefde heeft hij hulp nodig.
