BOOK 2 of the Alpha Charming Series. Nel knew the moment she stumbled upon the naked werewolf in the kitchen, her life would become both significantly more interesting...and utterly more complicated. ***** Chanel Leroy may seem like your average, smalltown woman running her own bistro and catering business, but she carries a deep, dark secret that's haunted her since childhood: She's a werewolf who can't shift. After suffering rejection from her mate and disappointing her alpha father once more, she finally decided to pursue her happiness among the humans. After traveling Europe for years, Nel planted her roots in Direfair, a small village in Scotland, where she opened her own business. But she never anticipated being booked to cater for the upcoming wedding of the year: The wedding of Rheon Balfour and Ashlyn Grace. And she certainly never anticipated stumbling upon a naked man in the kitchen on her very first night at the castle - or for the impossible to happen. That he is her mate. Despite getting a second chance at love, Nel feared that her inability to shift would lead to another rejection, thus forcing her to keep her secret to herself. Unless a deal she made in the past could help fix her problem. A deal she made with a witch.

Zain." He said it like he was tasting it. His fingers were still around my wrist, his thumb moving, just slightly, against my skin. "Zain. That is a pretty name." He turned to Raymond. His smile widened. "I like her." "She is taken," Raymond said. The words came fast. Faster than they should have. I heard them, and I felt something shift in the room, something I did not understand. Alexander laughed. It was a loud laugh, a full laugh, the kind that filled the room and left no space for anything else. "She is taken? Since when do you answer for the staff, Raymond?" Logan was still holding my wrist. His eyes were on Raymond now, his smile unchanged. "Why are you speaking for her?" Raymond did not answer. His face was hard, his jaw tight, his hands flat on the table. I had never seen him like this. I had never seen anyone look at me like this. Logan turned back to me. His eyes were blue, bright, and they held mine. "Are you taken, Zain?" My heart was pounding. I could feel it in my chest, my throat, my wrists, where his fingers were still wrapped around me. "No," I said. My voice was barely a whisper. "I am not taken." Logan smiled. He released my wrist, slow, deliberate, his fingers trailing against my skin. I pulled back. I set the bottle on the bar. I did not look at Raymond. I did not look at anyone. "I want her," Logan said. He was looking at Raymond now, his voice light, his smile easy. "I want her." "Not on my watch," Raymond said. His voice was low, hard, the voice of a man who was used to being obeyed. Logan laughed. Alexander laughed. I stood by the bar, the tray in my hands, my heart still pounding. "Why are you being so possessive?" Logan asked. "You are about to be engaged. Or have you forgotten?" Raymond's jaw tightened. His hands were still flat on the table, his knuckles white. The Woman She Became. You would love it. Give it a try.

"Light up my darkness," he murmured against her bare flesh. His fingers trailed up her arm, leaving a blazing fire beneath them. His lips pressed softly against her shoulder and her eyes fluttered closed, accepting his touch. "Let go and I'll take away all of the pain." She desperately wanted to free herself from the torture of the heat, of the shift, of the sadness, but she pushed his firm chest away from her. She yearned to finally fulfill her place among the divine. She desired to guide and protect the species. She wished to eliminate the Challengers. The longer she endured the pain, the more power she would attain to help her fulfill her responsibilities. To the men who watched her ascend, it looked as if she was interacting with thin air, but she knew he was there with her. She smiled softly at him, caressing his cheek. "My Darkness, let the pain fester within me. I crave it." * The Betrayal is a part of The Marking Trilogy and cannot be read as a stand-alone book. Life Lesson #1: If you are planning on going to a nightclub in the middle of sketchy, dark woods, don't. Life Lesson #2: If there are too many attractive, healthy people in said nightclub, be alarmed and rethink Life Lesson #1. Life Lesson #3: If you were foolish enough to ignore rules 1 and 2, I suggest you haul ass. Aeress is one of those special people who obviously need a couple more life lessons... ----------------------------------------------------------------- He chuckled. It was dry but it was an addictive sound. "No," he brought his nose against her collar, "not at all." His lips skimmed over her exposed skin. She sighed at his touch, riding the sweet, overwhelming waves that came with. "You've barely touched me," Aeress had her hands skimming up the back of his neck and in between his strands. "And I'm falling apart." His voice was a little hollow and this worried her. "The bond we have is responsible for that." She tugged at him until he looked up. For a moment she just basked in how handsome he was. "I don't think so," she leaned in for a kiss, "I think that you are just about the most fascinating man I have ever met. And we have only just met. I don't think a bond can simply erase the will of an independent woman like me." His eyes came to life with a blazing fire. He closed the distance between them and kissed sensation back into her body, setting off every nerve in her flesh. Everything came to a boiling point, sizzling with need. ++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++ °°MATURE AND EXPLICIT CONTENT OF ALL KINDS, AND I MEAN ALL KINDS°° Highest Rank: #7 in Werewolf, #79 in Romance

She is put to work on the classified Tekula Project, but certain events lead her to question her job. What is so dangerous about Level 5? Why do her tests come back increasingly strange? What secrets are B.E.A.R. Laboratories hiding? Veronica plans to find out. ▪▪▪ Brown eyes, nearly obscured by rich locks of dark hair, stare into my light green ones with an intensity which nearly causes my knees to wobble. I can hear nothing but the thudding of my heart beating wildly in my chest, the sounds of the sirens turning into white noise at the back of my mind. I back up until my spine connects with the elevator doors. I shiver as my bare arms come in contact with the cool metal. "Someone help me, please," I beg. The man stalks closer still. His eyes are fixed solely on me, unmoving, intense. His fists are clutched tightly against his sides, as though restraining himself in some way. Restraining himself from what, I don't want to know. The man stops only an arm's length away from me. I stare up at him with wide eyes, my lips parted in fear. I stand frozen, unable to move. I shut my eyes, turning my head away. Laboured breathing, the touch of fingertips on my bare shoulder, breath on my lips. A heavy, deep inhale. Slow exhale. A forehead against mine, shaky hands cupping the back of my neck, fingertips sliding into my red locks. My eyes open to meet the warmest pair of honey eyes. Cover by AnnaCharles16 #4 in ROMANCE? Paxton whimpered, shooting pain through me. He sounded so hurt, so broken. I hugged him tighter, realizing now that my tears weren't from the pain in my arms, but the pain that Paxton was feeling. He fell on top of me, wrapping his arms around me. His claws were no longer there, but he was still trembling. "Everything's going to be okay." I repeated over and over softly. He breathed in my scent, slowly calming down. "I thought you were gone," he whispered painfully against me. He sounded so vulnerable. "I'm right here," I said quietly into his ear. His arms tightened around me yet again. "Please don't leave me. Please don't leave me ever again." His voice cracking at the end. "Promise me. Promise me you'll stay with me." The desperation in his voice nearly broke my heart. Who knew that such a strong, powerful man could be so lost inside? Who knew that he could be so broken? "I promise." Little did I know, that promises were meant to be broken. *Cover by Maytijessen
