Shadow and Sonic have been in a secret relationship for a while now. The two have fought hard to keep their secret a secret, but when Rouge invites them (and a few others) for a vacation, it doesn't seem as easy as it was before. Do the others find out about the two? Hundreds of years ago, stood a forest called Millah, this forest contained three things, Love, Hatred, And Power. Now, this forest wasn't perfect, but it felt perfect, well it used to. It was now hundreds of years later, no one knows what happened to the forest, or what happened to the people in it, it remains a mystery to this day. Once a feared, praised 'deity' to a cult, now just a shaking, weak hedgehog who fears death more than his enemies. Who even was he anymore? After killing his only true friend, he awoke centuries later in his tomb, holy water engulfing him. The reality of Shadow's mortality took a tole on him, wracking and haunting him at every turn. Following saving Sonic and friends, he learns the ways of life, puzzled by their detachments from their own mortality. The blue blur especially didn't seem to care about his life, throwing himself into dangerous situations for strangers. It was something he admired, in a way. What started as curiosity, turned into respect and a longing of some kind. A mutual one the two had to address.

What if Sonic was the one who found Shadow and woke him up? After Tails studies the Master Emerald as a way to track chaos energy should anything ever happen to it, a startling discovery was made. Tracking a high amount of chaos energy from a GUN facility, the trio break into the base to check it out. And as Sonic explores, he discovers a hedgehog just like him, and is determined to set him free. I technically have this as a series on AO3, but I plan to have it as one fic here.

It wasn't supposed to feel like this - the quiet moments, the lingering looks, the way the world seemed softer when they were near each other. Maybe it was the way Shadow held silence like it was sacred, or the way Sonic laughed like it could mend anything broken. Whatever it was, it was undeniable. (MAY INCLUDE MATURE THEMES!!!)
