It's been several months since Shadow defeated Thermapondreix, and the newly teenaged girl is learning to cope with all the hardships that come with being the visionary. But as Shadow spends more time amongst the deities, she finds herself yearning for more familiar company. Feeling more and more distant from her familial twin masters, Shadow turns elsewhere to meet her social needs.

In a world ruled by deities, anyone lesser is treated as an animal. As a human, young Shadow understands this reality all too well.
