A storm of biblical proportions hit the western United States. In its centre, the small town of Springbrook was flooding, residents forced to evacuate to a local landmark: the dark and towering Castle Moore. In the chapel behind, lay the body of a fallen angel. Trapped in his own mind, the angel was jerked from his cycle of pain by a teenaged boy looking for his father. His memories hurt, and he was unsure of so much, but there was one thing he knew for certain. The harsh winds, and pounding rain were only the surface of the storm that was upon them. A war was coming: in hell, in heaven, and on earth, with the castle in the centre of it all. For its walls protected something, something the armies of hell would do anything to possess, and something that called to the angel-like a lost brother. **Sequel to Shards** Growing up means giving up childish beliefs and disillusionment. Growing up means becoming aware of the world outside of your comfort zone. Growing up means giving up everything and everyone you've ever believed in. It's been almost a year since Jaylee woke up in a hospital bed, with no idea who she was, and unexplained anger she fought to control. She made new friends, and found the old. She not only regained her memories, but became more than she'd ever been. Only to have it all taken away from her. After inadvertently trading her and Shay's freedom for Dale's, Jaylee finds herself back in the Compound. Her nightmares are real again, and waking up is no-longer an escape. While her friends on the outside fight tooth and nail to free her, she finds herself sliding into a different mindset, and getting to know the people she never really gave a chance.

She wakes up in a hospital with no memory, and only a hazy idea how she got there, but this isn't your typical case of amnesia. There is something bigger going on, the key to which lies somewhere among the broken shards of her mind. Her parents brought photographs and witness testimony, trying to tell her that she's just a normal girl, but things get more complicated when the police run her fingerprints. Two identities, but neither of them feel right. Nothing does, except for a mysterious boy who everyone tells her was just a figment of her imagination. At first all she wants to do is remember, but she is prone to acts of violence and at times unable to control her anger. Although she longs to see the friends she leaves behind in her dreams, she becomes fearful of who she used to be, and what she'll find in her own mind. The unnamed girl is torn, fearful for her sanity, and plagued by nightmarish flashbacks. Who can she turn to when the few things she does remember would sound ridiculous if spoken aloud? Who can she trust, as it becomes apparent that she's involved in something much bigger than they'd ever feared?

What are we without flesh and blood? Are we nothing but a beating heart in a ribcage, a marching soul inevitably leading to our demise? Or are we here as a test of loyalty to our God, a God we do not know but must trust? And without this trust, we will be punished indefinitely for questioning his divinity. And what is a sheep without his shepherd? Without God, are we nothing but sheep led astray? How will we be guided to the light without a shepherd on earth? Should we trust our shepherd to tell us the truth? Or will we be covered in the blood of the lamb? A shepherd with blood on his hands could infect his flock with poison. And with this poison, he has control. And to Luke, this poison is all he knows. His seventeen years of life have been devoted to nothing else but God. He wakes up, goes to school or church, and sleeps; rinse and repeat. There is no place or time for anything else in his life, such as television, going out with friends, or discovering new hobbies. His father, Pastor Ivy, ensures this. His life purpose will be to serve the Lord and nothing else. A purpose that Luke believes is the right way. What else would there be to life? He hadn't questioned this until he met Gabriel, a man who was the complete opposite of him. A man who was strong in his sense of self. A man who didn't bow to anyone or anything and stood firm in his beliefs in The Church of Satan. A man who Luke feared. But also a man who felt like home to him.
