We live in a world. Where people can control the stars above And the Earth below. Where gravity is just a word and time has no authority over us. We live in a world where extraordinary people Can control just about everything. Everything except for their own fate. A Tainting Light follows the story of an eighteen-year-old boy that was gifted with authority over fire. His mother had command over water and they were both hiding their abilities from the world. When Finn loses control of his emotions, his world slowly crumbled in the flames. We follow him into a completely different world where almost everyone has authority over something, but it is not as glamorous as he had pictured. Right before Finn's mother passed away she told him everything about Centure, an island off the coast of California where the manipulators live. She told him about the variations of power that her people possess. Extraordinary people can control just about everything- everything except their own fate. For most, you are either claimed for light or dark at birth; covered with markings for everyone to see. The lights are by nature good and able to thrive inside the large cities, the darks are evil at birth and live on the outskirts of city walls with little to nothing. Finn comes to this world as a craved, someone who is not yet claimed, and is immediately scorned for this. The craved are dangerous because once they are claimed, they gain authority over another substance. The seven other craved and Finn search for a mythical item that they believe will change everything, but when both good and evil are seeking their demise, it is only a matter of time until they have to give up, or risk everything trying.

A storm is brewing in Vorbereich. Twenty years after a war with the Lindtin powers that ended in horrible losses for the country and its allies, the country is still as broken and divided as it was when the war ended... except, of course, for the ruling classes, who go to balls and dinner parties while the rest of the country struggles to survive. However, one man believes he can change that: a man that is known simply as the Archangel. Many believe that what he does is going to finally unify Vorbereich and bring the country back to the strength it had before the war. However, when an outlaw, an heir to a fortune, and a police inspector cross paths, it becomes clear to them that his intentions are less than pure. And that it's up to them to stop him, before another war breaks out. Note: This is a sample. You've never, ever read a book like this. When a sexually-transmitted plague breaks out in Ashley Young's small town, leaving its victims with a bizarrely amplified libido, everything about her life changes. DEAD IN BED is partly a suspense thriller with a strikingly unique story, partly a page-turning mystery about a disease that makes people hopelessly crave sexual contact, and partly a neo-western adventure in the American heartland. For readers who can handle a smart, controversial female protagonist who's willing to do anything -- no matter how difficult or morally questionable -- in order to survive, the series pulls them in like an unshakeable addiction. . . . Bailey Simms, teen author of DEAD IN BED, is stuck at home with a rare medical condition. Writing is her only escape, so she's determined to keep her salacious series hidden from her strict father. Soon an older boy starts to secretly help her, and Bailey finds new opportunities for freedom she's never had. But as DEAD IN BED grows in popularity, and Bailey's fans start to clamor for the sequel, she learns that being a successful Wattpad author may come with a terrifyingly dangerous price.

It starts with a crack. Or maybe it starts with a question. Or maybe, just maybe, it starts earlier than that, when a particular bubble of a universe arose from the heaving sea of the multiverse and began to grow. Eventually, stars formed, then exploded, giving birth to more stars. Planets grew alongside their stars, and a few special ones happened to contain the right conditions for life to form. Maybe that's too far back, though. Maybe, you argue, the crack and the question are really what's important. So let's get back to the question... "Mirror, mirror, on the wall, who's the fairest of them all?" Winner of the Otherworldly category of @BreakTheCliches revolutionary contest
