Jay is on the hunt for his friend, Bird, after she is captured. The Last Battle is coming soon, and he has no other choice but to show them his mark of the moon, and become the Leader, in order to save Bird. He will fight to get her back, and won't stop until he does. But since he was a human before, his Pack is having trouble respecting him properly.

Jay, a thirteen year old boy, turns into a large black wolf in his sleep. With no other option, he joins a nearby pack of wolves in the wilderness. After the Wood Pack finally trusts him, they find out he has the mark of the Moon on his hind paw. Along the way, he meets a friend, Bird. He isn't sure if he loves her as a friend, or a mate. Then one day something terrible happens, and she's gone.
