More than eight years before the novel opens, Anne Elliot, then a lovely, thoughtful, warm-hearted 19 year old, accepted a proposal of marriage from the handsome young naval officer Frederick Wentworth. He was clever, confident, and ambitious, but poor and with no particular family connections to recommend him. Sir Walter, Anne's fatuous, snobbish father and her equally self-involved older sister Elizabeth were dissatisfied with her choice, maintaining that he was no match for an Elliot of Kellynch Hall, the family estate. Her older friend and mentor, Lady Russell, acting in place of Anne's late mother, persuaded her to break the engagement. Now 27 and still unmarried, Anne re-encounters her former love when his sister and brother-in-law, the Crofts, take out a lease on Kellynch. Wentworth is now a captain and wealthy from maritime victories in the Napoleonic wars. However, he has not forgiven Anne for rejecting him. While publicly declaring that he is ready to marry any suitable young woman who catches his fancy, he privately resolves that he is ready to become attached to any appealing young woman except for Anne Elliot.

Crime and Punishment is a novel by the Russian author Fyodor Dostoevsky. It was first published in the literary journal 'The Russian Messenger' in twelve monthly installments during 1866. Later, it was published in a single volume. It is the second of Dostoevsky's full-length novels following his return from 5 years of exile in Siberia. Crime and Punishment is considered the first great novel of his "mature" period of writing. Crime and Punishment focuses on the mental anguish and moral dilemmas of Rodion Raskolnikov, an impoverished ex-student in Saint Petersburg who formulates a plan to kill an unscrupulous pawnbroker for her money. Before the killing, Raskolnikov believes that with the money he could liberate himself from poverty and go on to perform great deeds; but confusion, hesitation, and chance muddy his plan for a morally justifiable killing. I never wanted any of this to happen. My only purpose was getting a degree on phycology and teaching. Those were the only things on my mind at the moment I arrived to England. I never meant to met him. Or letting him get under my skin with those blue eyes and black hair and mysterious bad boy attitude. Yeah, the things didn't go as I planned at all. I was supposed to change. I left because I couldn't let myself be this Emery anymore. I've hurt enough people already. I've changed, I was another Emery. But he screwed that up. He ruined that. The worst thing was that I saw it coming. Even at the moment I saw him, but I lied to myself telling me I got it all under control. It was the first of the lies. All those fucking beautiful lies. _______________________________ Ok. English isn't my first language, I'm Latin American; so sorry if there is a mistake. Hope you like the story.

The Spring Girls is a modern-day retelling of Louisa May Alcott's Little Women, telling the captivating story of four sisters desperately seeking the answer to the age-old question, what exactly does it mean to be society's version of a "woman"? The Spring Girls-Meg, Jo, Beth, and Amy-are a force of nature on the New Orleans military base where they live. As different as they are, with their father on tour in Iraq and their mother hiding something, their fears are very much the same. Struggling to build lives they can be proud of and that will lift them out of their humble station in life, one year will determine all that their futures can become. The oldest, Meg, will be an officer's wife and enter military society like so many of the women she admires. If her passion-and her reputation-don't derail her. Beth, the workhorse of the family, is afraid to leave the house, is afraid she'll never figure out who she really is. Jo just wants out. Wishing she could skip to graduation, she dreams of a life in New York City and a career in journalism where she can impact the world. Nothing can stop her-not even love. And Amy, the youngest, is watching all her sisters, learning from how they handle themselves. For better or worse. With plenty of sass, romance, and drama, The Spring Girls revisits Louisa May Alcott's classic Little Women, and brings its themes of love, war, class, adolescence, and family into the language of the twenty-first century.
