Diane Simmons always had the bad luck to look like a spitting image of her tall twin brother David. But as her world turns upside down, Diane has no other choice but to embrace their resemblance; with her father and David dead, two younger unmarried sisters in tow, an emotionally unstable mother and no other male successor, she doesn't see any other alternative to save her family and her home but to become her brother - and bury herself. And even if she thought it will be easy to impersonate a spoiled young heir that always gets his way, things get more than a little complicated with the arrival of David's so-called best friend, Captain Talbot, who seems to know more than she'd like him to. With his arrival, the secrets that have been buried in the heart of the Simmons home start to resurface and it looks like someone wants Diane dead one way or another...

Time, fate, chaos, willpower, nature: ideas born from man, used by man, honored by man. Most of the time, at least. These ideas, these concepts, unbeknownst to humankind, have been born into this world as human-like beings, and for the whole of mankind’s existence, they have lived among them as fleeting faces. For the most part, they have remained unnoticed, even by their own kind. Until the War of Nations. Chance, the being of fate, joined forces one hundred years ago with a cruel man by the name of Demarcus Sotelo, threatening those of his own kind to join or suffer. Tyme, having refused to surrender, longs for the vengeance of her only ally and friend, soon learning she is not alone on her quest in the final resting place of the human race. Not just her kind, but humans as well, long to be free of the chains Chance has bound them with, and the whispers of a revolution begin to spread. Revenge is sweet. But revenge, true vengeance, is decadent. -=-=-=-Author's Note-=-=-=- This story is a work in progress. In other words, I'll be changing it up almost constantly. At the moment, I'm really just getting it down so I can finish it. Additionally, I'd like to thank @juliaviktoria for the epic cover, and the rest who supplied an amazing array of choices: @BravadoFakingGlory @Bailley3 @Rebels_in_motionless @SugarwithSpice Once again, thank you so much!

--Watty winner-- In Victorian London, monster hunting isn't just a job, it's a way of life. Freddie Westman, a reporter for a paranormal magazine, is one of the best in the business, but now it's personal. His childhood friend, Jim Penderry, has disappeared, and the signs point to sinister forces from beyond the grave. If Westman wants to save Jim, he'll have to face his worst fear. No, not fighting a demon with only a cake to hand. Something far more daunting. Sceptical Sophie Penderry doesn't solve mysteries or go on adventures. She's more at home in the library with her nose in The Botanist's Guide to Plants and Fungi. But she puts the science books away to help Westman find her missing brother, whether he likes it or not. Which he really doesn't. Westman is a loner, reluctant to lead anyone into danger. According to him, the supernatural is not just the stuff of folklore and children's nightmares, and a world of black magic awaits them. Now Westman must decide if he should push Sophie away for her own safety, or take a leap of faith and accept an offer of help and friendship. Either way, time is running out to find Jim, and worse still, they may not make it back in time for tea and biscuits. ~Featured story (Sep 2014 - Aug 2017) ~Selected by R.L.
