Mixed are the emotions, Scattered are the notions, Jumbled are the thoughts, Of feelings suppressed, feelings I forgot. Stood by and watched the scene unfold, "The way of reality," Society had told. To change my clothes and cut my hair, Was how they said to avoid their stares. I played the part, Disobeyed my heart. Living happily an insidious lie, Leaving what's left of my humanity to die. Little by little the dam piled up, Guilt and shame overflowed my cup. Goodness escaped, for she had lost her meaning, Angered at the world, I was silently screaming. So I broke apart, Anew I'd start. Now here we are at the end of my strife, Where I'll take you on a journey......a journey through my life. || Winner of the Flowery Flower Awards ||

Trapped. Surrounded on all sides by an overpowering barrier visible only to you. A barrier consisting of your thoughts, your dreams, your hopes, separating you from the rest of the world. Thoughts struggling to escape, the memories vivid in your head. You're trying to push back the flood of emotion, trying to break down that wall that's separating you from the judgement that awaits you at the other side. Your fears captivate you and morph you into a new person entirely. Surrounded on all sides and breaking into cold perspiration. Enveloping you is that same fear, gripping at your heart. You stand still hoping for the storm to back down, hoping for another chance. Sooner or later you're faced with reality and you'll know there's no turning back. All that remains is a whisper of silence.

Have you ever felt overwhelmed by the number of sides to a story, the number of words to make up a description or even the number of thoughts needed to execute an idea? Have you ever had the fear of judgement, or been haunted by the thought of speaking your mind, yet still have the urge to sing at the top of your lungs? That's what writing feels like to me. I guess some things are just better left unsaid...

❝Ebony and Ivory live together in perfect harmony.❞ We can complain about roses having thorns, or we can be happy about thorns having roses. Storms don't last forever. Keep your face to the sunshine and you cannot see a shadow. A story needs a villain to keep it interesting, but what's more important is a hero who can be optimistic no matter how hard the times get. Join me as I embark upon the journey of recounting tales of heartbreak, agony and pain in Ebony, and the smiles, love and felicity in Ivory. There's always a wrong to a right, Darkness to every light. There are two sides to every story, There's always an Ebony to an Ivory. Note: This book is to be read alongside its twin book, Ebony.
