This isn't just a tale about fairies, nor is it just about dragons. Sure, they're part of it, but certainly not the big stuff. (Pretty ironic when you read the first chapter.) This is a place where everything can be reality. Waterfalls going up instead of down? Perfectly possible. Maybe flying islands? There are all sorts of things.
