This work is to educate those who want to be educated. To Be Educated is a series of essays that strive to spread awareness of the Black Lives Movement and the recent events happening in 2020 America after the death of George Floyd. When you read this work, you will learn about the state of America from a non-political perspective. Topics will include racism, police brutality, white supremacy, and many other topics. Resources will also be provided to help support the BLM movement if you're unable to protest due to Covid-19 or fear of persecution. I will also include spaces at the end of each essay to open for discussion between the readers as well as safe spaces for readers to share their grievances and beliefs. _____ My platform had always focused on spreading awareness of bullying. I believe it is my civic duty to use my platform and my writing to give the black community a voice. I'm not a member of the black community. I'm a person of color, an immigrant, low-income, a first-generation college student. I'm passionate about history and social justice. Rights and responsibilities is the 2014 theme of National History Day Contest, a broad topic. And I chose to write a just as broad topic of human rights. What are human rights? Is it to prove we're human? Prove that we're humans are right? Or to tell us apart from aliens? Though, now that I think of it, all extraterrestrial beings should have rights as well, but let's just have the Men in Black deal with that- But before getting off of topic, let's focus back on this. So, Grisha Jaegar was a medical doctor, right? Imagine if Eren learned some of the ins and outs of treating wounds/illnesses when he was a child. He did go with his father on house calls sometimes, we know from how he met Mikasa. I would love to a story with Eren patching up his comrades and their reactions to his capability and the depth of his knowledge on the subject. For example, asking why he entered the military instead of becoming a doctor himself (a much safer venture). I would love it to be angsty, but fluff with a flavoring of angst would be lovely also. Here goes it, Eren's hands are scarred from trying to save his mom and further injuring (by accident or on purpose, writer's choice). Reason as to why Mikasa's aren't as scarred, also writer's choice, but basically someone in the 104 squad sees his scars, how do they react?
