Caleb Diaz is not an animal lover. At all. So when his friend Marnie shows up on his doorstep with a birthday card and a kitten for his big 1-8, he's more than a little peeved. Cats stink, no questions about it. And with graduation less than a year away, Caleb's hardly got the time (or patience) to cope with running around after a deranged and messy fur ball. Marnie refuses to be swayed, though. In fact, she's already gone and enlisted the help of her brother Daniel, an animal enthusiast who's convinced he can convert Caleb once and for all. Armed with kitten milk and scratch posts, the trio venture down the road of parenting - a journey that may or may not involve sleepless nights, pet-oriented fights and infinite weirdness. When the monster is inside you, where do you run? It's the end of civilisation - for Salt Spring Island, at least. Trapped on the island with former townsfolk turned killing machines, sixteen-year-old Nina Scott must band together with the uninfected if she's any hope of surviving. But trust is a flighty concept in a town gone mad, and as a hierarchy forms and morality loses its influence, Nina and her friends soon realise that the real war isn't with the monsters outside. Worse still: the infected aren't the only ones who've changed. Survivors are adapting in the most frightening of ways, acquiring abilities that defy the human norm. And there's no telling whether they're stable.

Alcohol. Drugs. Parties. Smoking. It was all rather rebellious fun for several teenagers, but when their actions became too much for their parents' to handle, they were sent off to stay a summer with the Odonnell's. The Odonnell's family swore to change these kids positively by the end of the summer, but the teens themselves swore something totally different. Could the Odonnell's really change anything for the four unruly adolescents? They're parental units couldn't change them, could some strangers do so? ▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒▒ "If you hate your parents, the man or the establishment, don't show them up by getting wasted and wrapping your car around a tree. If you really want to rebel against your parents: outearn them, outlive them, and know more than they do." Henry Rollins

A mental patient searching for the Impossible. " I don't wanna stop pretending. If I do, everything will be more terrible than it is now. Why can't I just pretend? I can pretend Dad doesn't wanna hurt me and I didn't do what I did to you and Mom isn't scared of me. Why can't I just pretend? That way maybe I can be happy and everyone will forget what I did and maybe I will too." started May 2014 - been on various hiatuses - deleted, currently editing - (cover by @teratoid)
