This is my story. Take it for what it is or don't. Why should I care? I should because most people think that this strike was unneeded and/or that we, Newsies, overreacted. If you think that, you are lyin' to yourself and ought to be soaked for tarnishin' the good name of the Newsies a' New York. This is the story of how us Newsies won the strike, and how I met the love of my life, Spot Conlon.

Yankee Conlon was having the life as her brother, Spot's right hand man, but the suddenly doesn't know anything about her past due to one of the Delancys knocking her off her feet and she hits her head. Pulitzer finds this as an opportunity to turn the queen of Brooklyn to his side and watch the other Newsies do anything to jog her memory of being a Newsie.

Being Spot Conlon was harder than everyone thought. Everyone thought he was cold and distant and very scary. Many people thought he didn’t possess a heart, which was not true. He did have a heart, he just hid it well. He needed to be aloof, that was the only way you could survive in Brooklyn. Being a street rat made you hard. Winifred Brewster was the daughter of a famous doctor. She was Jack Kelly’s cousin and liked the life Jack lived. She believed her life was unexciting and wanted some adventure. She thought being rich made her boring. They both had secrets, deep secrets, but who could they tell? This is the first novel in the 'Taking a stand' series.

The world changed when the codes appeared. Small numbers printed across the heart. They appeared one turned 13. Printing himself upon the chest. It was years before someone realize that the numbers were ID codes, and even longer before they realize they belong to your soulmate. But once they did life shifted. Laws are made stating that it is illegal to search for your soulmate. That fate would lead you to them. Buildings appeared where you could check on the wellbeing of your soulmate, learn about them, and even send letters and gifts. To many people life got better when the numbers started appearing, and Race couldn't agree more. ------ Yes this is based on a m/m ship. As their relationship grows, the Manhattan newsies go on strike. With Spot's reluctance to help, Lily must pick between friends and family or the boy that loves her.

Meghan Baletti is Kid Blink's sis and is treated like most of the guys. She likes the equality, but wants to be more "girly," and wants somebody to love. Modern day Spot and Racetrack's adventures of everyday life. Maybe something will blossom between the two. That's for them to figure out.
