When Sombra returns to the Crystal Empire to seek revenge, he finds that Shining Armor and Cadence have had a baby foal. After a disagreement with Shining Armor, Sombra proposes a deal to the Prince and Princess: they can either give him the Empire or their daughter's hoof in marriage. The Royals object to both options. So Sombra gives them until the child is of marriageable age. A few years later the baby, whom they named Flurry Heart, is all grown up and seeking a husband. Sombra comes back to the Empire and proposes his deal again, this time to the young Princess. After hearing the options, Flurry doesn't know what to do. Which will she pick? The safety of her Empire?
