It was no longer evil, but the darkness that the evil left could never be destroyed. Now that the elves of Mirkwood have departed for the Gray Havens no one could keep the forest in check. If one were to go deep enough into the forest one would find strange mysteries and they will have amazing tales to tell. Assuming one survives.

It also turns out that Emma has to go into the action in order to retrieve said bacteria and almost dies a multitude of times. Fun.
