Shades... A race of humans born with the ability to use 75% of their brain. Shades are unwillingly taken from their families and forced to discard their feelings, all the while honing their abilities in an isolated facility. They're to become the ultimate soldiers that humanity have strived to create since the term "war" became known - and at the end of their training, Shades are put through a series of callous tests to determine if their years of training was a success. Should they pass these tests, they are given partners that they are expected to work with for the remainder of their lives. They're partners are Embers... Embers... Another race of humans alongside Shades, though they're born with the ability to use 30% of their brain. They are also unwillingly taken from their families and put into an isolated facility. However, they are taught electronics with the basic knowledge of being a soldier. Embers know how to handle any weapon upon first sight and are extremely knowledgeable of any device handed to them. At the same time, Embers are the bridge between the Authorities and Shades, relaying missions from them to their appointed Shade partners. Shades and Embers are drilled to follow every order to the letter with no questions asked. But what happens when a particular pair decide to forget the rules and dig into ancient history that was supposedly forgotten? Now on the run from the people that made them who they are, Clara and Remy - as they slowly uncover deeply buried secrets - question if everything they've been taught was just, in fact, a rehearsed lie?

Can a natural killer learn to be human again? Regan's unique talent for murder makes her a perfect assassin. After a lethal encounter leaves her broken body washed up on a beach, she finds herself adopted by a group of teenage bodyguards. She doesn't intend to stay for long, but soon Regan finds herself faced with a choice: become a hero or stay a villain? *** The boy played with the flat brim of the cap in his hands and looked around the room. He sat back in his chair, trying to look casual, but the heel of his hi-top sneaker drummed rapidly on the concrete floor. Regan sat opposite him with her legs crossed and her hands folded on her tartan skirt. She watched him without a word and brushed a strand of blue-dyed hair behind her ear. Somehow this seemed to unsettle him more. 'Calm down,' she said. 'It's just murder.' *** Author's Note: Darkness Girl: Trickster God is represented by Louise Fury from The Bent Agency. P.S. The epic cover was made by Paul Kopetko (you can stalk him at paulkopetko.com). Enjoy!
