All Ash wanted to do was to die - peacefully. When a powerful being interrupts her trip to the afterlife, he offers immense power if she forms a contract. Ash refuses. However, the funny thing about dying is that a person's last thought tend to be; "I want to live". Thus, begins Ash's journey as she unintentionally makes a contract with a being beyond her imagination.
