Magical knights have a "spiritual" weapon that represents who they are, for example: a broadsword represents that you are strong and determined. The school ranks you by how much magic energy is in your weapon. The ranks are A to F. Kaede is an F rank knight, which means that his magical knight power is really low. He was treated poorly by his family for being weak when he was little. His family was known for their great power in the Magical knight world. They even have an association based on their power.
