Leigh-Anne is afraid of flying on planes. She comes into contact with Elizabeth - a vivacious woman for her age on a flight to London. She and Elizabeth bond begins to grow as they talk and get to know each other more and Leigh-Anne's tension eases as the conversation grows. Elizabeth touches Leigh-Anne's heart with her zeal for life. It seems like the perfect flight until....the plane starts to experience immense turbulence as a result of an engine failure on the left wing of the aircraft. Luckily, they aren't that far away from the airport. The pilot and co-pilot try to initiate an emergency landing at Gatwick airport but Elizabeth's heart gives out before the plane lands. Leigh-Anne starts to panic and hits her head and be becomes unconscious and find herself laying in a hospital bed. She is saddened by the events that transpired as she recalls and re-lives the incident and the loss of Elizabeth.

Kate contacts Ethan when she goes to visit her family in the UK and as they start spending more and more time with each other, they start to fall for each other but Kate tries to deny it and be logical about the circumstance.
