For as long as anyone could remember, the aristocracy has ruled the nation of Usana, the Queen at its head. But the ball gowns don't impress Cana, a lower class girl barely scraping by trying to support her family. In her eyes, ballrooms and dancing have no place in a world racked with war and suffering. All of that changes when a wizard comes to stay. When he reveals the true nature of Cana's heritage, her world is tipped upside down. Now she must take a stand and prove that she has what it takes, no matter the cost. But is she willing to risk everything to change the foundations of an entire nation?

Nightingale is human - or would be, had it not been for the manner of her creation. Genetically engineered and grown to adulthood in a lab, she was created, not born. Why? Beautiful, elegant, a superb dancer and an even better singer, she is the perfect lover for any man. Perfect, that is, except for her personality - the one thing you can't engineer.
