They were taught to see the beauty within others and to try and save the souls of the lost. Those fallen angels find beauty in the fire they live in, find the beauty behind the burning flesh, and find the beauty behind the rotting souls to where they come accustomed to it. To where they themselves want to try and save what has been lost, not knowing it is them that are the one lost. For one cannot help another if they cannot save themselves first. That's the one lesson that Sariel, the angel of guidance, couldn't quite understand. Being one of the first ever fallen angels there was no lesson book on how to save those who have been lost when they are lost themselves.
