Dipper has had to deal with many a ghost since about 2 months after his b-day, when his ability to see the dead while awake and experience their deaths from their perspective in his sleep. The only time the ghosts leave and he doesn't feel what it's like to die is when bill is within 100 feet of him. Naturally this caused him to feel safe around bill and eventually grow to love him.
