It's 2 am in the Gifted Inmates Academy and Ouma is suddenly woken up by a phone call from Kiibo. The robot, often forgetting that Ouma needs sleep, apologizes for calling and offers to let him get back to sleep. Ouma declines and states that he doesn't mind talking to the other for a while. Since Kiibo is a robot, he doesn't need sleep. He wanted to talk to Ouma about something important, being glad that Ouma gave him the chance to do so. However, after their phone call, Ouma is no longer to sleep at night.

Kiibo is ecstatic to experience the outside world with someone that he considers a friend, but Kokichi doesn't seem to feel the same way. In fact, he resents having survived. The former Ultimate Supreme Leader claims that it's because he would have rather survived with anyone else besides the robot, but Kiibo can't help that there's more to the story than he lets on.

The world ended due to a virus that has taken over those who are 21 and above. Now it is up to the youth and other survivors to get through this... The only problem now is that not many are fortunate to have the blessing of the "Respawn", the chance to revive after being killed. Many will perish from memory after their death; others will get to relive the tale, over and over again. Who knows what will happen in the end though...? Only the survivors will live to explain this life.
