Where two young men and a woman during the first world war, are given a mission from their commanding general: they must travel across the abandoned German trenches in order to deliver an urgent message to the 2nd Devons, a battalion within the British Army, who are preparing to attack the German army's new front lines, situated one mile south east of the town of Ecoust. Travelling fast and together, they must get there before dawn, or sixteen hundred men will be slaughtered.
