She doesn't know where he is, but she knows he's out there. He's supposed to be dead. But, Kaitlyn always told her that as someone dies their name is recorded as they enter wherever they go. No name=not dead. But if he's not dead, where is he? In order to find him Heidi will have to turn to old and new friends. Even her family. And maybe even reveal secrets, just to save him.

Ariel has left Swan Cove in 1864 when she was 13 to go back to Maryland. But she notices something is wrong. So she goes back to Swan Cove without Daniel knowing her secret. But then it seems like their friendship is drifting apart when the new girl comes to town into her old house. How will Ariel react? How will she get her old life back. With summer coming to an end, Luke and Heidi have to say goodbye to Daniel and Ariel and have to go back to Florida. When they go back to Sweet Water High everything is completely great, well great for high school. But when November comes that is when the problems start. Luke starts to ignore Heidi. And Halloween makes things get even crazier. Is their friendship falling apart? And what happens when Heidi starts to see Monica around her small town? Who are the 2 mysterious new girls? And for Heidi how will she juggle soccer, high school, and mermaids as if being a teenager isn't enough?

Then soon, every mermaid. What is going on, you may ask? It seems that merfolk are having their powers drained. Therefore, losing their tails. Arguments, fights. The merfolk who haven't been infected arguing with the ones that have about if they should erase their memories. After all, humans aren't supposed to know about mermaids. Before we know it, humans and mer will be at war. Again. What if it spreads to all mythical creatures? But how can Luke and Heidi stop this before it's to late? And the most important thing, who is the evil mastermind behind this epidemic that is plaguing all mers...and maybe all mythical creatures?
