When you wake up on your 18th birthday, your last thought is usually 'oh, maybe my best friend and boyfriend of three years are gonna get caught together by me' or it may even have been 'A totally hot guy whose name I've only heard vaguely and whose face I haven't seen is going to get me pregnant' those should have been the last things on my mind. So last that they shouldn't have come true.

Allison Snow was ten years younger than Colton Pierce but that didn’t affect their tight bond. That was until he went to college and they had a silly argument. Now ... well, now it is been two years since she has seen his face - two, very long, years that nearly drove her into insanity. When he walks back in her life, Allison knows two things for certain, she can’t let him know what she did when they stopped becoming friends and she most certain cannot tell him that she might be growing ‘romantic’ feelings for him... Yet, both of which are becoming seemingly impossible...

"Cay, will you look at me?" I turned around and lifted my eyes to look into his. His arms were braced on the counter and he was looking at me sideways. The glow of the light coming from the living room and into the kitchen gave his face an otherworldly impression. I waited for him to continue. He closed his eyes and sighed, "Cay... Just so you know... I wanted to do it. Right there, a while ago. But you know why I couldn't, and why we shouldn't." There was a pain in my chest at his words. But I just gazed at him, unsure of what to say. He was right. It would be a mistake. And no matter how many times my weak heart and frail mind wanted him to kiss me, it would be selfish, not to mention immoral. In the end we would both regret it, and that would hurt the most. © rainthereader 2012 All Rights Reserved
