He has to help Kamal graduate, unlike the original history in which he hardly studies because he feels so hopeless about it, and Sam also has to pass the Bar exam for Rim. If he doesn't, Kamal will be abused by his parents for the rest of his life and Rim will be stuck in a miserable dead-end job for the rest of hers. The Tenth Doctor, Donna, Sam, and Al meet up during one of Sam's leaps that lands himself in 2002, three years beyond what Sam remembers as his present. The four of them are there to stop a confused "time jumper," but there are just a few problems.... For one thing, Sam is deaf and doesn't know sign language.
