Not all monsters are gory, ferocious and vicious. Not all monsters lurk in the dark, move at night, live in the woods, feed on human flesh and blood and of course not all monsters live in our dreams! Some monsters live amongst us, wear human skin, walk during the day, eat and sleep with us, possess an extremely beautiful exterior, coated with the perfect smile to put us at ease. When they're so sure we've gotten so used to them that we open our hearts and homes to them. Monsters are indeed everywhere, lurking around in broad daylight looking for a victims to devour.

The reality of her circumstances. She had never been this emotionally raw, weak as she was with Mubarak, she physically felt safe in his presence. She had never felt safe in the presence of a man like she did with him. That was not on her agenda. She wasn't supposed to be feeling all the things she felt now, but they were there. That was the last thing she wanted. She could sense his resistance, she had never seen a man so intent on not liking her as he. The rest just ignored her, him? He saw her but it felt as if he didn't want to. And here she was all intent on Becoming Mrs Bugaje. What would he say to Maryam? This would devastate her beyond all measures. His hands travelled to hold his nape, squeezing the thick muscle there, he had never felt so worthless all his life like he did now. A graceful light-eyed girl who brightened a crowd with her mere presence, a girl with the heart of gold, his young gazelle. He had her right where he wanted, loving him like no other, despite him being reckless, nonchalant, a liar by omission and a rogue she still loved him whole. Her love made him so full that despite giving her his all he was still left with excess from her. This was the woman he would inevitably lose because of his recklessness. She would face the pain. A pain of Becoming Mrs Bugaje. He had vowed to protect her from herself. Yet he had pushed her over. He had vowed to make her see what people had done to her, she taught him forgiveness. Under all that crazy bubbly mouthiness, was his angelic queen, compassionate, loving- a jewel. Yet he ruined her. Now her ruin was his ruin, he had carried his pain long, hard and deep in his heart. She was a pain he was willing to live through life with. Her voice what he lived for. Her smile his home.

Maryam never had a say. Although her situation wasn't her fault, people never fail to rub it in her face. If she was a child out of wedlock, she wouldn't have been sad. Atleast she'd be paying for her parent's sin. If she was an Almajira, she'd still lift her head up high and accept what ever the world threw at her, atleast she would still be paying for her parent's sin for throwing her out into the streets. If she was a prostitute, Heck! she'd stand proud and tall, atleast it was her decision to sell her body to men. But, she was neither one of this things. She had lost her father, a day before she was born. Her mother got married to someone else a week later! That marriage came with a whole lot of burden. A burden she was subjected to by her gullible mother. A burden she had no choice but to embrace.

"We have to live together. I am tired of this game" I said. "Game! Do you think what's going on between us is a game, it's destiny Ray, our fate". "I do not know. Sometimes I feel insecure and lonely. Often even in your presence I feel that you are far away from me". I felt a pang. She smiled and looked at me intensely. "That was not your promise Ray, I promised I was going to visit anytime you miss me which I have been doing. You promised not to worry". I kept mute and we ate slowly in silence afterwards. "Let's go" .She said. "Let's ride around". The sky had turned faint red in colour. I rode slowly feeling her warm body pressing against me. The noise of street sank down and i felt deep calmness. We sat on a cement bench under the bridge near the walk way. The view was majestic. The gentle waves in the lake glistened in the fading sun light. Tall grass spread on both sides of the lake like a green carpet. Suddenly she lay down on the grassy ground closing her eyes and took a deep breath. The sky was clear with innumerable stars glistening. "Hey dreamer, come to me". She said her eyes sparkling. I moved forward and lay close to her, then turned to face her. She rolled over to me and i felt her gentle kisses on my face. "I wish to be melted into you, penetrate into you, not just a part of my body but the whole of it. I miss you Marwah". I said and sighed. She laughed looking stunned. Her laughter echoed. "You must have been reading those hot love stories recently Ray". She said making me smile shyly. She pulled me suddenly to her and kissed hard at my lips. I returned her kiss as we hugged each other tightly. The tightness of her hug went soft as she gently pulled away from me. I tried hard to read her face in the reflection of the moon light. I felt a sharp intense pain in my chest as she started to walk away. I yelled her name, crying and telling her to come back. "Strong men don't cry Ray, wipe those tears and know that your Marwah forever loves you".
