Klaus knew Caroline before they first met. They met the summer before he met her for the first time, in a cute little town called "Belmont Bay". Klaus compelled her to forget it all, he even wanted himself to forget. Forget the girl who made him go gentle. He wanted to be consumed in his harshness, it was easier. This is their summer.

Caroline is devastated and lost with confusion but soon starts to realize what she has been hiding the whole time has really been her true love or will it just be another heart breaking lie.

“What’s that look?” she asked with a smirk. “What look, love?” he said, innocently. She looked in to his eyes, seeing the warm happy feeling that hang on them. “That look” she said, smiling after a moment of examining him. “I’m happy” he said, taking his right-hand from the steering wheel and placing it on her hand. “I really am. The last couple of days have been the best days of my existence. Hearing the most amazing three words from you that just makes my heart skip a beat just makes me wonder if I’m dreaming” he kept talking, as his eyes twinkled and he felt a lift in his heart. Caroline was amazed, speechless. She was wondering if this is “Nicklaus Mikaelson” the well know ‘big bad hybrid’.

"It's beautiful when you find someone that is in love with your mind. Someone that wants to undress your conscience and make love to your thoughts. Someone that wants to watch you slowly take down all the walls you've built up around your mind and let them inside." They did not agree on much. They fought all the time and challenged each other every day. But despite their differences, they had one important thing in common; they were crazy about each other.
