"This book speaks to anyone with a neurodivergent brain, that may feel like an alien here on earth. I swear Browning made me laugh and cry and question reality...sometimes all in the same sentence." -JD Todd, author The universe is a very strange place. It will take even stranger heroes to save it. Potto is dim-witted, extremely forgetful and incredibly naïve. He wasn't always this way. Aye-Aye is devilishly shrewd and has boozed his way into a comfortable existence of incompetence and sleaze. How they ended up being two of the most wanted aliens in the galaxy is anyone's guess. Chased down by every oddball bounty hunter in the known universe, and befriended by a libidinous assassin, a fire-breathing reptilian, and a telepathic tree, their misadventures take them past Earth (the mall planet), to a floating sex circus, a planet of killer stuffed animals, an underground spaceship impound lot, and to a planet of reasonably priced bungalows. All while flying around in a ship powered by the brain waves of a psycho killer. A great prophecy proclaims that only "one of light, and one of dark" can save the universe from the dictatorship of The Node. That can't be Potto and Aye...Potto doesn't know what the word prophecy means, and neither know how to spell it. Part sci-fi epic, part absurd dark comedy, I Don't Seem So Bright in a Well-Lit Room is a comment on human behavior, depression, anxiety, and self-esteem. But way more fun than that sounds. So, do up your space seatbelts...it's going to be a bumpy ride. Despite the lack of potholes in space. (Sci-fi /Dark Humour/Absurd) *Completed! Enjoy! Round One: Four friends on a picnic in 1830s France decide to pass the time with a wishing game not unlike Truth or Dare. The wishes they make weave tales of love, addiction, sensuality, hope, fear and rebellion laced with just a bit too much Truth... Round Two: When the bones of the recently-deceased Frederick Barbarossa are stolen, Petrus the surgeon/chaplain/executioner/ herbalist/scaliwag must get them back, whatever it takes... Round Three: The widow of Assha Yokuta is being haunted by the ghosts of her dead sons. The monk Yokui wants simply to lay the spirits to rest, but finding the truth of where they died - and in the service of whom - is harder and more dangerous than he could have imagined... These stories have been written for The Pub's Historical Fiction Smackdown! The Historical Fiction Smackdowns are hosted by @FrozenInTime and involve writing short stories with particular criteria until you are eliminated! I hope you enjoy!

It begins with a plant. It begins with Baz. In the old days of the Empire, only talented Casters could eat the Baz grains and tap the power that lay in the seed. Bazza'Casters were powerful, legendary figures with abilities that were limited only by their talent, skill and imagination. These days, Casting is for everyone. Bazza'Jo brought the power of Baz to every corner of the Empire, using it to bring all the lands of the world together. Because of Bazza'Jo, everybody can Cast. Everybody does. Living in the furthest reaches of the Empire, Raina Ratherham doesn't care about Casting. She's more concerned about the conflict that is brewing between the people of her home town and the people who live in the woods that surround them. Raina is just as fiercely loyal to her friends in the woods as she is to her family in the town. Caught between field and forest, Casters and warriors, farmers and hunters, Raina is determined not to choose a side. She is going to fight to protect them all against the distant powers who are trying to break them apart... Bazza'Jo is a Young Adult Fantasy inspired by the wonderful books of Philip Pullman, Kenneth Oppel, Frances Hardinge, Diana Wynne Jones and others! I hope you'll enjoy reading it as much as I enjoyed writing it!
