Othello (The Tragedy of Othello, the Moor of Venice) is a tragedy by William Shakespeare, believed to have been written in 1603. It is based on the story Un Capitano Moro ("A Moorish Captain") by Cinthio, a disciple of Boccaccio, first published in 1565. The story revolves around its two central characters: Othello, a Moorish general in the Venetian army and his unfaithful ensign, Iago. Given its varied and enduring themes of racism, love, jealousy, betrayal, revenge and repentance, Othello is still often performed in professional and community theatre alike, and has been the source for numerous operatic, film, and literary adaptations. Damien Arden is a failed artist who sells his work in the city's promenade market. From his stand, he can see the beach where a young dancer comes every afternoon to practice- for months now. The two have only communicated through their work, and hardly through speech. But one night after Damien meets with a fatal accident, there is only one painting that will save him, that only the dancer can recognise after months of observation. A coming of age story about loss, friendship and the true beauty of two artists communicating in their own languages of passion which turns into a relationship with profundity. PG-13 (WOAH. #107 in Adventure and #292 in General Fiction in three days. HOW?) © T R A N Q U I L I TY ®
