Urbosa was many things, but even she could not halt the sands of fate. When a dying Hylian mother entrusts her infant son to her, begging on her last breath to raise him as her own, her Gerudo pride could not possibly deny her final request. Link, despite being a male, would be raised Gerudo. And Urbosa would make sure her son would be the strongest warrior of them all. (We hit Linked Universe eventually, but the first bit is definitely just BotW.)

Calamity Ganon was stronger than anyone had anticipated. Link and Zelda gave their lives to seal him away in the ruins of Hyrule Castle. But an unexpected complication with Mipha's Grace has given Link a corporeal ghost form. Now stuck amongst the living, with one foot in the realm of the dead, he must struggle to figure out what Hylia needs him to do. Luckily, the Champions of Old are there to help him. Nobody could've possibly foreseen eight incarnations of the Hero's Spirit-very ALIVE incarnations-appearing from the mists of the Lost Woods asking for Link.

In this world magic is useless. At least, normal magic. A wizard with his pointy hat can only do small things. But demons have true power. They can wield magic on a scale far beyond that of mortals. So how could mortals fight against a threat such as demons? With demons of their own, of course.
