Five years have gone by since -A was caught and the girls went separate ways. Emily joined the Army in an attempt to follow in her father's footsteps. She chooses to join due to the fact that she didn't feel like she fit in at college and deployed to Afghanistan. She has not spoken to Alison at all since she left for California and doesn't intend to. She doesn't want Alison, her sick mother, or the girls to know she joined.
