"The Tell-Tale Heart" is a short story by American writer Edgar Allan Poe, first published in 1843. It is relayed by an unnamed narrator who endeavors to convince the reader of his sanity while simultaneously describing a murder he committed. The victim was an old man with a filmy "vulture-eye", as the narrator calls it. The narrator emphasizes the careful calculation of the murder, and he hides the body by dismembering it, and hiding it under the floorboards. Ultimately, the narrator's feelings of guilt, or a mental disturbance, result in him hearing a thumping sound, which he interprets as the dead man's beating heart. Cover by the lovely @FayLane.

Julia feels as if she has it all. An attentive new fiance, a three-year-old stepson she adores, and she's living in the house of her dreams. Even dealing with Michael's ex-wife isn't as bad as she'd imagined. In fact, Tessa actually invited her out to dinner, insisting she'd like to get to know her better; to get to know the woman who will be helping raise her child. But as their evening together grows increasingly tense, Julia's not convinced the other woman's intentions are as innocent as what she'd like her to believe. Tessa seems obsessed with her former husband and the life they once shared. The life Julia's not willing to give up. She decides to share her suspicions with Michael, who only tries to assure her that Tessa is still adjusting to the divorce. But when he confesses something about his ex-wife he never revealed before, it brings to light just how unstable the woman might actually be. When a string of unsettling events begins to unravel, Julia's left to wonder if they're somehow connected. Is the sensation she has of being watched real, or just a figment of her overactive imagination? Why did she see Tessa driving slowly past their house, and who was the person creeping around outside her bedroom in the middle of the night? Are these just weird coincidences, or are the stakes getting higher the closer she gets to the truth?
