I'd Like to think I was a good person, before it all began. I didn't cheat on tests, or steal. But throughout my entire life, I was treated if I were a monster. At the age of five, after several agonizing tests, I was diagnosed with Reactive Attachment Disorder. But not even that title could describe just how strange I was. When another kid got hurt, I would cry. Whenever someone else was told a funny joke, I would laugh hysterically. People looked at me as if I were crazy- and for while I agreed with them. That was until I, Caddie Jones, was exiled to Nox Haven Academy, a school for truly special kids. Not the mentally ill, psychotic kind of special but the magical kind. Like witches, vampires, fairies and werewolves. Call me crazy if you want, you wouldn't be the first. But the stories are all true. The supernatural did exist and I was one of them. Life there was cool until suddenly, I was faced with two-faced witches, egotistical princes, hormone driven werewolves, and an army of evil warlocks who were threatening to destroy the world. ... Maybe Nox Haven was a school for psychos after all. ---------------------------------------------------------- Highest Rank: #2 in Paranormal 1st Place winner of The Night Shift's Killer Competition 4/10/16 Illustration by: Stephanie Pitino (www.ClairObscur.fr) (1st book in series)

I badly needed to stretch. A scientist walked past my cage;something was hidden in his hands. I hissed my warning. I may be stuck in this cage, but I was not here willingly. "Hello!" I froze. Was that... a meow? Could I suddenly understand cats or something? The scientist came back and put down another cage- that was what he was holding- much bigger, beside mine. Stretched out inside was a black cat, his head resting on his paws. He looked up at me with sad yellow eyes. "Hello." He meowed. "I guess we are in the same boat." ••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••••• This book loosely based off of CrystalScherer's; 'Upon Wings of Change' Go read this amazing book, you will not regret it. Mari Rivers is an ordinary 13 year old living in a small town in the Andrian Republic with her kardia, (an animal companion everyone in the world of Nitis has), Piperi, a black cat. Her world falls apart when the neighboring kingdom of Lasto invades, destroying everything in their path. Her best friend, her mother and father, her little brother, all gone when the soldiers blaze their way through. Ana, Mari's little sister, is taken away by the soldiers, one of the only captives. Escaping into the Emerald Forest with nothing but a promise to get her sister back, Mari and Piperi have many challenges to face, and most difficult of all, the temptation to sink into her memories of happy times and never come out again. Does Mari have the courage it takes? It's more than the flare of adrenaline that drives you to do things you thought you could never do, more than the bravery it takes to sacrifice yourself, or to face your worst fear, it's being able to keep on going through the hardship, and make it to the end.
