It's also home to seven boys with a secret: they may simply seem like players of the famous sport, Nightball, but they're actually vampires. To escape from their dark past, they try to lead normal lives as students - other than the occasional hitch since their rival Nightball team happens to be made up of werewolves. Two nations that were once peaceful allies are now in the middle of a blood curdling war, leaving the people divided more than ever. The Republic and the Capital are two very different countries yet they both have the same goal in mind; to win the war. Born the daughter of the Republic's leader, Seventeen-year-old Kriss Vanrossen is forced to train and learn how to manage the future that her father has set out for her. In contrast, born from the slums of the Republic, seventeen-year-old Daniel Walker grew up hating the Republic after an event that took place on the Republic's very own streets. Now living in the Capital, Daniel stops at nothing to stop the injustice happening around him. From two very different worlds, Kriss and Daniel have no reason to cross paths. Until the day that Daniel is asked to go back to the Republic and Kriss' father is replaced by the same man that Daniel has been searching for. The man's face, now on almost every television screen in the country, leaves both Daniel and Kriss with the feeling that something has to be done. Despite their political differences, Kriss and Daniel manage to work together so that justice can be regained. But in a devastating turn of events, the two of them discover just how divided the people of both countries really are.
