"Your name is Kenneth Kentucky and you work at McDonalds?" I glared at him, "Would you like Fries with that?" He began laughing hysterically and I sighed impatiently, waiting for him to stop. Suddenly, he stopped and then, putting both his hands on the counter, staring right into my eyes, he whispered, "I'd like Fries with you." My eyes widened as it slowly registered that Golden Boy McHarden had just openly flirted with me.

At first glance, nobody would be able to tell that Nathaniel Jean had a problem. Or second glance, or third, or fourth. After all, he had everything. He was a captain of his school's soccer team and one of the top players in the state. He had a big house and money to spend. He had family, he had friends, he had fun, he had faith. He never meant for it to happen. He never wanted to look at another man in the way he should have been looking at a woman. The idea had disgusted him for most of his life - living in a heavily Catholic town with heavily Catholic parents, homophobia was the only response he knew. That didn't change when he first realized that he didn't like girls. No, Nathaniel Jean was still homophobic. He hated the idea of a man sleeping with another man. He was raised on the notion that all gays went to hell, and he believed it. He despised them, and so he despised himself. Nathaniel Jean was more fortunate than most, because help did arrive for him. Help by the name of Lucas Morgan, they boy he'd always known but never known. The boy with big dreams and bigger talent. The boy that changed Nathaniel's life over the course of their thirty-six week long senior year.

(Previously known as: The Life of the Bullied) ~How can you say you love someone, when you can't even love yourself?~ "I love you, Sarah Emilia Hall." "I-I think you should leave." I could literally see the life drain out of his eyes when I said that, his arms falling limply to his sides as he backed up, stepping down a couple steps from me. I don't know what possessed me to say that when he was so vulnerable and obviously telling the truth, but I couldn't tune out the voice inside my head screaming he couldn't love a fat cow like me. He couldn't love someone so useless, someone so ugly. "I-yeah. I think you might be right. I-I'll talk to you later." James practically ran down the stairs, not turning around once as he left the house, the only sound left of him was the slamming of the front door. **** Sarah Hall is the fat girl. Having people, let alone her ex-friends tease, ridicule, and insult her every day she's bound to have trust issues. Although she tries to blend into the crowd, pretend she's as invisible as she seems, her life is quickly interrupted when James Black waltzes in like he wasn't there every day when she was bullied. And it doesn't help that she has sporadic bursts of the confident girl she once was coming in every now and then. James Black is a popular boy. Tattoos, star soccer player, the center of the popular crowd. He doesn't care what anyone has to say or think about him, but when his attention is captured by one particular beauty he's bound to have some selective words for those who bully her. Yeah, he has a thing for the fat girl, the only thing is now getting her to have one for him. Find out what happens when they meet, and what exactly happens when the fat girl and the popular boy get together. Highest Ranking: #44 in Teen Fiction, October 4rth, 2016
