"People fear death and love flowers but all flowers grow from dead things. " This is an autobiographical poetry collection, which tells the story of a girl and her first encounter with love and heartbreak and her journey from self-loathing to self-love. (The story is told in a mixture of poems, prose, diary entries, and dialogue.) Those of you who know me well, know that I went through a bad breakup last year. This book is the fruit of that breakup. It is the wounded lovechild of my life before and after a toxic relationship. It is my heart on a plate, Dig in. Trigger warning: Mentioning of mental illness, sex, and self-harm.

❝Let's be more acceptable. Let's not judge a short dress. Let's not judge a lot of makeup. Let's not judge liking sex. Let's not judge her choosing herself over her kids/husband. Let's make it okay to love yourself. At this moment, I can just hope and pray, and do my bit. But I am hopeful. I hope society changed and we didn't end up breaking the branch we've been sitting on.❞ These are a hundred letters to my older self, because if I can do it now, I'll do it then. The only thing I need in it, is myself.
