Samuel Brandt woke up with his thoughts written all over his body. His brother woke up with his head missing. His sister woke up to find that her skin would crack open unless she stayed in water. All of the other children in the secluded Iowa town of Oak Knoll woke up having undergone strange transformations. Now, they are all forced to live at 407 West Marshall Street, the mysterious house outside of town. With the new name of The Boy with Words for Skin, Samuel wants nothing more than to hide from his new life. He painfully and unpredictably sheds his skin, there is a Voice in the entryway closet that is often cruel, and-perhaps worst of all for a naturally shy boy-the other children look to him as a leader. As his seven-year-old brother struggles with their new life, as terrifying growls start to come from the pitch black basement, and as his feelings for a girl begin to grow, The Boy with Words for Skin realizes that he wants to change. He wants to put others first, learn from his peers, and let himself hope that things will get better. The Boy with Words for Skin is the first book in the 407 West Marshall Street series. Each book will advance the story but be told from a different character. Book 2 will be The Girl without Eyes.

"You're so cute," he leaves a soft kiss on my shoulder, "and beautiful," he buries his nose in my hair, planting another kiss against my neck, "and incredibly smart," he smiles against my skin, moving slightly to tilt my head, "and finally mine." And then his lips are on mine. ••• Three years ago, Aria Brooks became an orphan after her parents were murdered in the comfort of their own home. The traumatizing sight left Aria with nothing but gory nightmares and sweet memories. Now, at the age of seventeen, she stays with her aunt and uncle and spends her days either drawing or painting, wanting nothing but to continue with a normal life. But people don't always get what they wish for. With Miles Prescott as her new neighbour and enemy, having a peaceful day is near to impossible. He's a total jerk, and a complete idiot. But he's also insanely good looking, and of course, that is the reason he's easily dragged into the popular crowd and is immediately labelled as Maple Grove High's bad boy. When the two have their second encounter and Miles ends up soaked in paint, the hate they have for each other only burns more. So what happens when they get caught up in a prank war? Or when a killer gets thrown into the mix? In the city of Baltimore, where the streets wind like forgotten melodies, a group of children discovers an otherworldly secret. Their lives revolve around their bicycles, and their MP3 players provide the soundtrack to their adventures. But one fateful day, the music in their earbuds completely changes. As the children pedal through the streets, they unravel the threads of fate and a mystery that risks reshaping reality. Their journey becomes a harmonious blend of courage, fun, and the magic of friendship. This is a story of Unknown Songs. Note: This novella is a work of fiction. Any resemblance to actual events or persons, living or dead, is purely coincidental. Except for that one guy, that one means to resemble someone. :) However, the character's specific opinions are fictional and within the context of this story.
